Bringing Up Readers: Essential Books for Children in 2024

The topic, "bringing up readers," is such an interesting one.

There is a saying that “readers are leaders"!  Oh wow, and I have checked over the years, and it turns out to be true, because knowledge is power and knowledge is security! Ultimately, whatever you know becomes part of you, and you will be able to command mastery over the knowledge area or aspect. Note that whatever you don't know is a master over you. So the very big question here is, “How do we raise readers in our society today?

First, we must teach  them and open them up to the potency of quality information and its intellectual impact. We must also cultivate the habit of early nurturing and cultivating our young ones into reading as a way of expanding their intellectual capacity with the right information. We should also ensure that we encourage them to push further for mastery by studying ( both theoretical and practical),  acquiring knowledge, and building intellectual capacity for them to stand out.

2 Timothy 2:15 - says, “Study to show thyself approved.” Reading has a lot of impact on us and contributes immensely to improving our society. Remember, information is key. It can either lock or unlock our intellect and our sense of reasoning towards a certain field or aspect of life.

As a parent, you are the first teacher that your child could ever have before going to a regular school. Some kids, however, grow up finding it difficult to read a word, while others pick up fast and get it all figured out within a short period of time.

Reading and information enhance your worth as an individual.

Moreover, our productivity is also enhanced in terms of development, infrastructural development, and all that.
